Preparation of the vessel ends
Cut the artery as close as possible to the midline between the approximator clamps, but not too close to the collateral vessel on its underside.
Irrigate the vessel immediately, remove excess liquid and brush out the vessel if needed. Pull the soaked adventitia as far as possible over the cut edge of the underlying media and trim back along its edge.
Dilate the vessel and approximate the vessel stumps.
